Earlier on in the design process I was looking to do a creature design in armor. I thought of creating a humanoid Chocobo design then ultimately went with a tailless Burmecian Squire.

Early references I was looking at FF9 and Tactics with a splash of Megaman Legends and Ren Fair costumes.
